Christmas

Help Us Deliver the Greatest Gift This Christmas: A Life-Saving Ambulance!

Dear Friends,

This Christmas, we’re asking for your help to deliver the best gift imaginable – the gift of life.

In rural Tanzania, when emergencies strike, the difference between life and death is often a matter of distance. Imagine going into labour, suffering a severe injury, or battling a life-threatening illness, and knowing there’s no ambulance to get you to the care you need. For too many in our community, this is a harsh reality.

We are committed to changing that. This year’s Christmas Campaign is dedicated to raising $60,000 to purchase a brand-new 4WD ambulance for our hospital in Tanzania. This isn’t just any vehicle; it’s a lifeline for people in remote villages, capable of navigating treacherous roads to deliver patients to the safety of our hospital.

A gift from you this Christmas means:

  • 🚑 Safe and swift transport for mothers in labour and newborns needing urgent care.

  • 🚑 Quick response for emergencies like accidents and severe illnesses.

  • 🚑 A chance to save hundreds of lives every single year.

Your donation, big or small, will make a real difference. Here’s how you can help:

  • $50 could help fuel the ambulance for a week.

  • $200 could provide life-saving medical equipment for the vehicle.

  • $1,000 could get us much closer to get this brand-new 4WD ambulance delivered to Tanzania!

Remember, whether your contribution is private or by a compnay, we have DGR status and any contribution over $2 is tax deductible!

This Christmas, let’s come together to ensure that no one is left without help when they need it most.

🎁 Donate Now and give the gift of hope, health, and life.

Thank you for being part of our mission to create a healthier, brighter future in Tanzania. Your support means the world to us.

Drive hope this Christmas: Help deliver a lifesaving ambulance to Tanzania

This Christmas, we’re asking for your help to put something incredible under the tree—a lifesaving 4WD ambulance for rural Tanzania. Now, before you think, “An ambulance? That’s not very Christmassy,” let us introduce you to Mama Farhad.

Mama Farhad is a true hero of her village. She’s a mother, a farmer, and the heart of her family. But one day, her life took a scary turn when she faced a medical emergency. Picture this: her village is miles away from the nearest clinic, and the road is more pothole than gravel. The only way to get her to care was a rickety motorbike ride that took hours and felt like days.

Thankfully, Mama Farhad made it — but the truth is, not everyone in her situation does. That’s why we’re stepping in to change the story.

Why a 4WD Ambulance?

In Tanzania, healthcare is often out of reach — not because of a lack of doctors but because of the literal distance to get there. Villages are scattered across rugged terrains, and when emergencies strike, every second counts. A 4WD ambulance can navigate those impossible roads, bringing people like Mama Farhad to safety.

With this ambulance, we can provide fast, reliable access to care, saving lives that would otherwise be lost. It’s not just a vehicle; it’s a lifeline.

Your Gift = Real Impact

When you donate to our Christmas campaign, you’re giving more than just a ride to the hospital. You’re giving families a chance to stay whole, mothers a chance to raise their children, and communities a chance to thrive.

And the best part? You’ll see exactly how your generosity transforms lives. Mama Farhad’s story is just the beginning. With your help, we’ll share more smiles, more recoveries, and more hope.

How You Can Help

Whether it’s $10 or $1,000, every donation brings us closer to our goal. And what better way to celebrate the season of giving than by saving lives?

So, let’s make this Christmas unforgettable — for Mama Farhad, for countless others in Tanzania, and for you. Together, we can deliver the best gift of all: the gift of life.

Happy holidays, and thank you for making miracles happen!

Do you give meaningful gifts?

Are you, like me, searching for meaningful gifts that won’t have to be returned or sold cheaply on Marketplace first week of January?

Do you end up with gifts that never gets used and gets hidden in the back of a drawer, or in a cupboard for years?

Gifts, that makes no difference and has no significance?

Then I have the perfect solution for you!

a Meaningful Present

From my own experience, sometimes gift giving is hard. It either feels like order-lists are given out (as opposed to wish lists), or gifts are just not quite hitting the mark.

And sometimes you just don’t really need any more stuff to clutter your home.

By giving a gift of a donation you are making a difference in more than one person’s life.

You can donate as little $10 and have a significant impact. Make it a monthly donation and let the receiver receive a thank you note every month. I am sure that will bring a smile to their face remembering what an awesome present you chose.

Each of our Outreach motorbikes enables a medical officer to deliver quality healthcare to patients in our community of 35,000 people every day. For less than $50 you have given the gift of fuel, medicine and maintenance of our motorbikes for a week! $48 to be precise.

An impactful present

Every year we make over 1,000 home visits to people who would otherwise have gone without medical care and support.

We provide training an education to the locally elected Community Health Workers who are visiting another 2,500 households every year. They provide advice on family planning, educate on danger signs on severe medical issues, and encourage families to vaccinate their children.

Our Health Centre sees approximately 1,000 patients every month, and we average 2 births a day.

In total, we provide medical care and advice to more than 15,500 people every year. That is worth having a part in, don’t you think?

We all wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a joyful time with your families.

WOW! That's all I can say!

You have been incredible.

It is not even December yet, and we have already surpassed our initial goal of $5,000.

We are deeply grateful.

That said, this doesn't mean an additional donation isn't going to help us. If we can raise another $5,000 then we have all the medical supplies, fuel and maintenance for the motorbikes for 1 year funded as well.

Do you think we can make it before Christmas?

I believe in you.

Fuel, medical supplies and maintenance of the two motorbikes costs AUD $5,000 each year.

This will enable us to deliver quality healthcare to children, people with disabilities and the elderly within our communities. People, who otherwise wouldn’t receive any healthcare.

Reaching out... For outreach.

Today I am reaching out to you.

We need your help.

For the past 8 years we have run our outreach program providing quality healthcare to people who otherwise wouldn’t receive any medical care.

But now we are struggling to deliver this service. The only way we can reach people is on our motorbikes and our old ones are literally falling apart.

We need new bikes. Can you help?

1 motorbike costs AUD $2,500 and we need 2, so our total need is AUD $5,000

The Bigger Picture

Christmas is magical.

The lights. The smells. The people. The food.

It is one of my favourite times of the year. I love returning to childhood fantasies with the Elf on Shelf doing his naughty things and each family having their own specific traditions.

In the later years another feeling has entered my Christmas too: The Bigger Picture. I am not sure what else to call it. I still want Christmas to be magical time for my children, my family and my friends. But at the same time, I am very much aware of the impact this over-indulgence and over-consumerism has on our planet and its people.

Therefore, I try to be conscientious about the presents I buy, and ask myself a few questions before purchasing an item:

  • Will the present be appreciated for days, months, years to come?

  • Will it last a long time? (unless it is a box of chocolate or a bottle of wine)

  • Will it be used over and over again?

I know, some of the best, and most memorable presents I have received has been of the homemade kind. A jar of homemade chilli-mango sauce. Carefully spiced bath salt. A selection of seeds to grow my own herbs.

Present bringing joy

Of course, some presents and decorations are bought. But when we buy, why not buy something that really matters?

All our stock at ARTEFACTZ is handmade by artisans in Tanzania. The textiles are woven on large handlooms and hand dyed with natural colours. The baskets are handwoven by a large collaboration of women, although the straws used are traditionally cut by the men. Our bibs a cross stitched with safari motives by young HIV positive single mums to create a living for themselves and their children. Every single item has its story.

By purchasing one (or more!!!) of any ARTEFACTZ item, you are directly supporting the maker. You are directly making sure their children gets fed and gets to go to school.

On top of this, as we are a not-for-profit, all surplus is funding the healthcare services we currently are providing to 35,000 people.

And it gets even better (it’s Christmas after all)! Through our partnership with Action on Poverty we receive an additional 5% on every $$ we raise.

Head over and make this Christmas one to remember.
